QUESTIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED
Hypnosis – what is it?
Hypnosis is a completely natural state of relaxation and concentration, combined with a sense of heightened awareness, induced by suggestion. Hypnosis is a natural manifestation of the mind.
Hypnotherapy – what is it?
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis as described above which means you are guided into a relaxed natural state which gives a more direct access to your subconscious mind to help with habits, emotional or psychological problems. After all, your problems reside in your subconscious mind, NOT in your conscious mind or you would have dealt with them or changed your habit by now. So, it makes more sense to deal more directly with the part of your mind concerned.
Are any drugs or tablets used?
No.
Shall I be aware of what is happening in hypnosis?
Yes, the predominant feeling of most people is “it didn’t work for me, I never went under, I was only relaxed” You too will just feel very relaxed!
Are there some people who cannot be hypnotized?
No, (except perhaps, people with special needs), Non-prescription drugs and alcohol if taken to excess can hinder the process.
Could I be influenced to do anything against my will when in hypnosis?
No. In fact you would be shocked out of the hypnotic state immediately if any such action was suggested to you.
So, I am not asleep when in hypnosis then?
No. You are simply extremely relaxed. This is why the technique is called conscious hypnosis. You are aware of what’s going on.
How many visits will I need?
Smokers, nail-biting and exam nerves may only need one session. Weight loss is 3 sessions. The more deep-rooted disorders require analytical rather than suggestion therapy which consists of between 6 to 12 sessions.
Can I drive afterwards or go back to work?
Yes, but you may feel more relaxed!
